Getting your pool ready: a seasonal guide
Opening the pool: first steps
Opening a community swimming pool should be planned at least two weeks before the start of the season. The first step is to remove the winter cover, thoroughly clean the pool basin and inspect all installations: pump, filter, skimmers and return jets. Any damaged component must be repaired before filling the pool.
Water treatment: chlorine, pH and other parameters
Correct water chemistry is essential for hygiene and to protect the installations. Free chlorine levels should be kept between 0.5 and 2 ppm, pH between 7.2 and 7.6, and total alkalinity between 80 and 120 ppm. At the start of the season it is standard practice to shock-chlorinate the water to eliminate bacteria and algae that have built up over the closed period.
Quick Servi offers a community pool maintenance service with regular water analysis and treatments tailored to each installation.
Basin cleaning and maintenance
The pool floor and walls should be cleaned with a robot or vacuum at least twice a week during the season. Skimmers and pump baskets must be emptied frequently to prevent blockages. The sand filter needs a weekly backwash to maintain its filtration capacity at peak performance.
Safety: regulations and signage
Regulations governing public-use swimming pools in the Community of Madrid require depth markings, no-unaccompanied-minors signage and an accessible first aid kit. Before opening to residents, check the condition of the ladder, the non-slip coping and the lifebuoys.
